Supreme Court stays outgoing NSC Member Secy Silwal’s dismissal until Dec 27

KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court has issued a short-term interim order to stay the dismissal of Ramesh Silwal, the outgoing member secretary of the National Sports Council (NSC).

Hearing the case on Wednesday, a single bench of Justice Hari Phuyal, seeking reasons for dismissing Silwal, summoned both the parties for discussion on December 27.

Assistant Spokesperson of the Supreme Court Devendra Dhakal said a short-term interim order was issued putting Silwal’s dismissal on hold till December 27.

Sher Bahadur Deuba-led government had dismissed former Prime Minister KP Oli-appointed NSC Member Secretary Silwal.

However, Silwal moved the apex court seeking to reverse the Deuba-led government decision to dismiss him from the post of NSC member secretary. He has also sought an interim order allowing him to serve as NSC member secretary until the case is settled.

The interim order sought by Silwal is to be discussed on December 27 after both parties come to the table.

Meanwhile, the Deuba-government appointed Tanka Lal Ghising as NSC member secretary through open competition on November 29 after dismissing Silwal.
