Hindu minority attacked in Bangladesh; three killed



DHAKA: Hindu religious sites were vandalized and the Hindu minority attacked in a violence that escalated following a Facebook post in Bangladesh.

The violence erupted after the Quran, a holy book of Islam, was allegedly demeaned during a Durga Puja in Cumilla district in the country, local media outlets reported.

A huge number of security personnel have been deployed in the incident site. Th Three people have died and two others sustained injuries in the violence, police said.

Many Hindu temples, houses and shops have been vandalized, according to police. According National Census 2011, around 8.5 percent people are Hindus in Bangladesh.
