KATHMANDU: The Nepali Congress (NC) General Convention scheduled to be held from 25 to 29 November this year is likely to be deferred.
Party sources said that the scheduled convention is likely to be deferred due to the current status of the work schedule, active membership dispute, and the major festivals.
The schedule of the General Convention has already been affected. The leaders of the NC have gradually acknowledged the fact during informal talks that the possibility of holding the general convention in November is getting slim.
If the tasks had been accomplished as per the schedule, the convention of all districts should have been completed by October 4.
The Provincial Convention was to be held on October 27, 28 and 29 immediately after the Dashain festival.
However, only 14 districts of the Himalayan region have held the convention so far.
Moreover, regional conventions have not been held in most of the districts.
Meanwhile, ward conventions have not been held in 8 districts of Province 2. Likewise, ward conventions have not been held in districts including Rasuwa, Dolpa, Banke, Kailali, and Surkhet.
