NC office-bearers’ meeting postponed citing PM Deuba’s busy schedule

KATHMANDU: The officer-bearers’ meeting of the ruling Nepali Congress (NC) scheduled for today has been postponed.

Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba had scheduled an office-bearers’ meeting for 2 pm today.

The meeting has been cancelled due to busy schedule of Prime Minister Deuba, informed Krishna Prasad Paudel, the chief secretary of the Nepali Congress Central Party Office.

The meeting had been called to dwell on the active membership row, preparations of the 14th general convention and the possible names of the leaders to participate in the government.

Balkrishna Khad, Gyanendra Bahadur Karki have already participated in the government as Home and Law ministers respectively from the Nepali Congress.

It has been a hard nut to crack for Deuba to select other ministers.

Deuba said the list of ministers from NC will be finalized following talks with senior leader Ram Chandra Poudel and former General Secretary Krishna Prasad Sitaula.

Leaders and cadres of Nepali Congress from Bara district have been staging a sit-in at the central party office since the last five days demanding to sort out the active membership issue by July 31.
