KATHMANDU: Petroleum tanker drivers have called off their agitation after the government agreed to vaccinate them from Wednesday.
Nepal Petroleum Tanker Drivers Association President Ishwor Lama said, “The government agreed to vaccinate petroleum tanker drivers at Armed Police Force Hospital in Balambu from Wednesday.”
The Nepali Oil Corporation (NOC) had held a dialogue with the association after the latter’s announcement of not ferrying petrol from Bagmati Provincial Depot Office in Thankot to petrol pumps. Petroleum transportation had been halted since Saturday follow the association’s demand for arranging vaccination.
Lama said drivers and their helpers of Thankot depot would be provided vaccines based on identity cards issued to them by NOC. Around 900 drivers and their helpers ferrying petrol across Bagmati will receive vaccines after the agreement. He added about 1,400 drivers and helpers would be vaccinated in Amlekhgunj as per the agreement.
