UML Karnali PP meeting begins with Jwala; three UML ministers abstain

SURKHET: UML Parliamentary Party (PP) meeting  of Karnali Pradesh has started.

UML provincial lawmaker Prakash Jwala, who was penalized for crossing the floor, is also taking part in the meeting.

Other three lawmakers – Ammar Bahadur Thapa, Nanda Singh Budha and Kurma Raj Shahi – have abstained from the meeting.

They  along with Jwala had faced action for crossing the floor. They are currently ministers in the provincial government.

The meeting which was called for 8 am had not started until 12 pm.

Supreme Court on Monday reinstated UML provincial lawmakers Prkash Jwala, Ammar Bahadur Thapa, Kurma Raj Shahi and Nanda Singh Budha.

They had crossed the floor to support the government led by Chief Minister Mahendra Bahadur Shahi of CPN (Maoist Center).

The meeting has been called prior to the budget presentation in the Provincial Assembly scheduled for today.

Even though UML has 20 seats in the 39-member provincial assembly, the government has already been rendered into minority and the meeting has been called to dwell on the government, said Chief Whip Gulab Jung Shah.
