KATHMANDU: Senior leader Ram Chandra Poudel-led faction of the Nepali Congress (NC) is holding a meeting at the NC leader Prakash Man Singh’s residence in Chaksibari.
The faction’s meeting which began at 9 am is dwelling on the upcoming 14th General Convention, said sources.
Earlier, Poudel on June 10 had held a virtual meeting with the central committee members of his faction.
Leaders loyal to Poudel faction are casting doubt whether the 14th general convention will be held on the scheduled date.
The NC has scheduled its 14th general convention for August 23-26.
If the general convention could not be held, there have been preparations that some additional office-bearers will be added as envisaged by the new statute while giving continuity to the incumbent ones. The meeting is dwelling on the same issue, said a leader close to Poudel.
On Monday, NC leader Koirala in a virtual meeting with Poudel had said they had reached a deal with President Sher Bahadur Deuba on the same option.
