Covid-19 cases surge rapidly in the last one month

KATHMANDU: The Covid-19 infection rate has sharply increased in the country of late.

The country recorded over 150,000 new cases in the month of Baishakh. The number of infected was 37,925 on Baishakh 1 while the number reached 439,658 on the last day of Baishakh.

According to the Ministry of Health and Population, a total of 158,071 new cases were recorded this month. The Ministry’s Spokesperson Dr Jageshwar Gautam said that altogether 20,948 individuals were tested PCR in the past 24 hours while 530 through Antigen methods. And, the total number of infected in the past 24 hours was 8,520. With this, total tested number reached 2,733,510 till Friday.

Meanwhile, 49,047 infected persons have recovered in Baishakh. The Ministry further shared that 6,135 infected have recovered in the past 24 hours in the country.

There are 1,705 are under treatment in ventilator and ICU support in the country. The number of infected in Kathmandu valley has reached 3,349 while the number was 254 on Baishakh 1.

A total of 1,608 infected persons have lost their lives in the Baishakh alone. Similarly, 203 individuals have lost their lives in the past 24 hours in the country.
