Home Ministry proposes to commute sentence of 600 inmates



KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Home Affairs has put forward a proposal to commute the remaining sentences of about 600 inmates in various jails on the occasion of the ’71st National Democracy Day’.

According to Director General of the Department of Prison Management Drona Pokharel, a list has been prepared for around 400 inmates as per the Civil Codes 2074 BS.

Likewise, a list of 200 inmates has been readied as per the earlier law.

The list prepared by the Home Ministry through the department is ready to be sent to the President’s Office after the Cabinet meeting approves it.
