SOEUL: North Korea has unveiled a submarine-launched ballistic missile that the state media called as the “world’s most powerful weapon”.
Several new type of missiles were displayed at a parade overseen by North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, according to the state media.
The display follows a political meeting where Kim termed the US as his country’s “principal enemy”.
The display of military strength comes just a few days before the inauguration of Joe Biden as US president, BBC reported.
According to the images released by North Korean state media, as many as four large missiles — previously unseen weapon — being driven past flag-waving crowds, it said.
North Korea expert Ankit Panda has tweeted saying, “New year, new Pukguksong.”
Leader Kim is seen smiling and waving as he watched the display in Pyongyang’s Kim Il Sung Square.
