Girl students get sanitary pads free of cost



KATHMANDU: Surkegad Rural Municipality has distributed sanitary pads to girl students of different schools in the Humla district.

The rural municipality distributed sanitary pads free of cost to the girl students from Grade 6 to 8 of Dewal Basic School at Tumcha, said school principal, Kali Bahadur Rawat.

The sanitary pads were distributed to address the problem that girl students used to remain absent during their menstruation. The girl students of 11 lower secondary schools inside the rural municipality were provided sanitary aid.

Even the Rena sanitary pad bank has been established at Simkot. The bank was established at the facilitation of Himalayan Education and Development- HEAD Nepal- with an objective of selling sanitary pads at a reasonable cost for the company for women, said Chhomu Lama of HEAD Nepal.

Yeti Airlines would supply the sanitary aid free of cost from Kathmandu to Nepalgunj while Tara Airlines from Nepalgunj to Simkot.
