NC General Convention: Deuba still taking a lead



KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba has maintained a lead in the vote count followed by leader Dr. Shekhar Koirala.

According to the Election Committee, with 1600 votes counted so far, Deuba is leading with 768 votes while his nearest rival Koirala has got 591 votes so far.

Other presidential candidates Bimalendra Nidhi has got 92 votes, Prakash Man Singh 122 votes and Kalyan Gurung 4 votes as of now.

The counting of votes for the party president has started at 4 am on Tuesday.

Out of 4,743 voters, 4,679 have cast their votes in the General Convention held on Monday.

According to the NC statute, 51 percent of votes are required to be elected as the President of the party.
