SC issues interim order allowing lawmakers Pandey and Sharda Devi to join Unified Socialist

KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court (SC) has issued an order in the name of the Election Commission (EC) not to take action against the right of CPN-UML lawmakers Som Prasad Pandey and Sharda Devi Bhatt to choose the party.

The SC on Tuesday issued an interim order instructing the EC not to act in any way that would affect Pandey and Bhatta’s right to join the Communist Party of Nepal-Unified Socialist Party led by Madhav Kumar Nepal.

A single bench of Justice Nahakul Subedi gave the interim order to EC.

Pandey and Bhatta had appealed to the Supreme Court after the Election Commission did not include them in the verification of the Unified Socialist Party.
