SC hearing writ filed by UML leaders seeking to join Unified Socialist

KATHMANDU: Supreme Court (SC) is hearing a writ petition filed by two UML lawmakers seeking official recognition as lawmakers of CPN (Unified Socialist).

A joint bench of Justices Ishwari Prasad Khatiwada and Nahakul Subedi are hearing the writ petition.

UML leaders Som Prasad Pandey and Sharada Devi Bhatta on September 8 had moved the SC seeking an interim order on the action taken by the Election Commission against them.

In the writ, they have argued that the EC did not approve their applications even though they filed the applications on time to join the Unified Socialist.
