KATHMANDU: Cadres of National Youth Association Nepal (NYAN), the youth organization of the CPN-UML, have burned effigy of senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal in Koteshwor Wednesday afternoon.

Earlier, NYAN cadres escorted UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli from Baluwatar to his residence in Balkot, Bhaktapur. Upon reaching Balkot, cadres welcomed Oli at his residence and chanted slogans against leader Nepal. Meanwhile, the UML chair blamed and slammed leader Nepal for his actions that toppled the UML government.

From Balkot, pro-Oli supporters left for Koteshwor, where the rally turned later into a corner meeting, police said. In the course, some pro-Oli supporters resorted to burn leader Nepal’s effigy.

Security was also increased to stop the mass from heading towards leader Nepal’s residence.
