KATHMANDU: Rabi Lamichhane Foundation is continuing assistance by providing oxygen and other medical supplies to COVID-19 infected people who have not been receiving oxygen and other supplies due to their poor financial condition.

The foundation is collecting oxygen cylinders from different places, filling and providing them to the needy, informed media person Lamichhane.

Assistance has continued uninterrupted to Janamaitri Hospital in Jumla as well.

“Though there were beds in Janamaitri Hospital, it had been closed due to lack of equipment,” he said. “As the flow of Covid infected patients surged dramatically, we asked to operate the hospital by promising to deliver the necessary equipment,” shared Lamichhane.

According to him, empty cylinders of oxygen are being collected at various places, taken to plant for filling the lifesaving gas and delivered to people.

Till date, the foundation has helped with around 200 cylinders.

“Though we took responsibility for Janamaitri Hospital; we started receiving calls from elsewhere too. After receiving calls for help from government-run Trauma Center about two days ago, we delivered five cylinders there also,” Lamichhane said.

The foundation is also building a hospital in Kalikot.

Lamichhane said the rich and the affluent ensure their treatment by dialing the phone to different places but the common people have lost their lives due to lack of oxygen. Therefore, we have started this work with the objective that no one should lose his life due to lack of oxygen, he added.
