Karnali CM Shahi to take vote of confidence



KATHMANDU: Karnali Province Chief Minister (CM) Mahendra Bahadur Shahi has decided to take vote of confidence from the province assembly soon.

According to CPN-Maoist Center sources, CM Shahi who was in the minority after the CPN-UML withdrew its support to the government has registered a letter at the province parliament secretariat on Tuesday seeking a vote of confidence.

UML had withdrawn its support to the Karnali government on March 18. Similarly, three UML ministers in CM Shahi’s government had submitted their resignations on April 6.

Shahi who had to choose between resignation or taking a vote of confidence has chosen the second option.

There are 39 members in the Karnali Province. Out of them, 20 belong to UML, 12 Maoist Center, 6 Nepali Congress and 1   Rastriya Prajatantra  Party.

The Maoist needs 20 votes to get vote of confidence from the assembly.

The province assembly is scheduled for April 16.
