IPL 2021: Mumbai defeats Kolkata by 10 runs

KATHMANDU: Mumbai Indians has clinched a thrilling win against Kolkata in a cricket match of the Indian Premier League (IPL), 2021.

Held at Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, Mumbai inflicted a 10-run win on Kolkata.

Invited to bat first after losing the toss, Mumbai had set a target of 153 runs for Kolkata. In reply, Kolkata could not achieve more than 142 runs.

Mumbai’s Surya Kumar Yadav scored a half-century with 52 runs followed by Captain Rohit Sharma with 43 runs while Hardik Pandya and Krunal Pandya hit equal 15 runs.

Kolkata’s Andre Russell took highest five wickets of Mumbai followed by Pat Commins with two wickets while Varun Chakravarthy, Shakib Al Hasan and Prasidh Krishna grabbed one wicket each.

Kolkata was restricted to mere 142 runs while it was chasing the 153-run target. Nitis Rana made highest 57 runs followed by Shubman Gill with 33 runs.

In reply, Mumbai’s Rahul Chahar took highest four wickets to restrict Kolkata from reaching the target. Similarly, Trent Boult grabbed two wickets and Krunal Pandya claimed one wicket.

This is the first win of Mumbai in the ongoing IPL. Earlier, Mumbai had lost to Royal Challengers Bangalore in the first match. Kolkata Sunrisers had defeated Hyderabad.

Hyderabad and Bangalore are locking horns in today’s match.
