KATHMANDU: The alarming quantity of uranium recovered from Boudha is found to be uranium-238.

According to AIG Hari Bahadur Pal, the chief of Metropolitan Office Ranipokhari, the Nepal Academy of Science and Technology (NAST) confirmed the metal as the “raw uranium” also known as uranium-238.

He informed that NAST sent the report of the test to the police on Sunday.

To be regarded as the refined uranium, the metal has to be U-235, but the one recovered from Boudha is U-238 or the raw uranium, AIG Pal explained the report.

The Metropolitan Police office had recovered 2.5 kg uranium from Boudha on Thursday. The sample of the recovered material was sent to NAST for a test.
