Maoist Center to officially summon leaders defecting to UML

KATHMANDU: The Communist Party of Nepal-Maoist Center has decided to officially summon former Maoist parliamentarians who have defected to the CPN-UML of late.

The Central Committee (CC) meeting of the CPN-MC has decided to officially write to former Maoist leaders and parliamentarians asking them to return to the party. The CC move comes as the 24-hour period given to defecting leaders to furnish clarification ended on Sunday.

The CC meeting took place at the party office in Paris Danda from 11 am on Sunday. Today’s meeting concluded with the next CC meeting scheduled for 11 am on Monday.

Yesterday, the party had decided to recall all its ministers (former Maoist leaders) currently in PM KP Oli’s Cabinet and seek clarification from them. Former Maoist leaders defecting to UML failed to furnish clarification by today.

A total of 13 parliamentarians who were elected from the CPN-MC have defected to the UML.
