Elderly woman assaulted on witchery allegation in Morang



BIRATNAGAR: A 60-year-old woman of Ratuwamai-2, Doriya, Morang has been assaulted brutally on witchery allegation.

According to DSP Man Bahadur Rai, the spokesperson of Morang Police, a group of people dragged the elderly woman from her house and beat her brutally tying her in a pole in the cowshed nearby.

He informed that the woman is undergoing treatment at the Biratnagar-based Koshi Hospital.

“The woman was found in a critical condition and is now undergoing treatment in Koshi Hospital,” DSP Rai said.

The aging husband had called the villagers for help immediately after his wife was dragged out from the house.

The police have arrested Bhim Lal Singh Gangai, 65, Jitan Lal Singh Gangai, 60, Lakhan Lal Singh Gangai, 50, Laxmi Prasad Singh Gangai, 27 and Hairani Gangai, 19, of Doriya on the assault allegation.

The assaulters are of the same Gangai family.
