NC General Convention: Election committee extends voting hour till 9 pm



KATHMANDU: Considering the time spent by each voter to cast the vote, Nepali Congress (NC) Central Election Committee (CEC) has extended the polling time in the 14th General Convention till 9 pm Monday.

Earlier, CEC had set the polling deadline for 5 pm.

Election Committee Coordinator Gopal Krishna Ghimire informed Monday afternoon that the voting time has been extended till 9 pm on Monday.

Voting for the selection of NC officials including party President is taking place at Bhrikuti Mandap, in Kathmandu.

Although CEC had planned to start polling at 8 am, citing some technical issues related to ballot papers, the voting started only after 11.30 am.

Prime Minister and NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba, Dr. Shekhar Koirala, Prakash Man Singh, Bimalendra Nidhi and Kalyan Gurung are in the fray for the presidential cap.

This General Convention will elect new leadership in 134 posts including 13 office bearers. 4,743 representatives are participating in the election.
