NC Gen Convention: Senior leader Poudel to abstain from voting

KATHMANDU: Senior leader of Nepali Congress Ram Chandra Poudel has said that he will not participate in the voting being held today to elect a new leadership of the party.

Poudel’s personal secretary Chiranjibi Adhikari said that leader Poudel has been dissatisfied with the unhealthy competition taking place in the party.

“An unhealthy competition is rife in the NC. I will not take part in the voting of the 14th General Convention of the party,” Adhikari quoted Poudel as saying.

Poudel has not yet revealed who he will support.

However, he has called on the cadres to use their discretion to safeguard the ideals and values of democratic competition even if he is out of the competition, according to Adhikari.
