Curfew lifted in Rupandehi

BUTWAL: The curfew imposed in Rupandehi district for the last for four days has been lifted.

The District Administration Office (DAO) had imposed a curfew after tension flared and the situation went beyond control.

Four people lost their lives in the clash between security personnel and the locals that erupted after the latter tried to seize the land of under-construction Motipur Industrial Area.

The curfew was lifted from Tuesday midnight after the situation turned into normal, said Chief District Officer (CDO) Rishiram Tiwari of Rupandehi.

“The curfew has been lifted. The situation has now turned into normal. However, a huge number of security personnel have been deployed in the incident site,” said Tiwari.

Over 60 people who came to capture the land of Motipur Industrial Area have sustained injuries.
