National Assembly meeting postponed till September 15



KATHMANDU: The meeting of the upper house has been postponed till September 15 due to main opposition CPN-UML’s protest.

The main opposition which had been obstructing the House of Representatives since Wednesday, has extended its obstruction program to the National Assembly (NA) meeting on Monday.

After the meeting started on Monday, UML lawmakers rose from their seats to protest. NA Chairman Ganesh Timsina postponed the meeting for 15 minutes after UML protest.

However, the UML protest continued in the second session of Monday making Chairman Timsina postpone the meeting till September 15.

UML is obstructing the parliament over the role of Speaker of the House of Representatives Agni Prasad Sapkota. It has accused the speaker of playing a role in the UML split.

The National Assembly meeting has also been obstructed on this issue.
