NC Poudel faction holding meeting at Sanepa today

To discuss active membership row, ward convention

KATHMANDU: The Poudel faction of the ruling Nepali Congress (NC) is holing a meeting of its camp today.

To be held at 2 pm at the central party office in Sanepa, the meeting will discuss the dispute seen in the ward conventions held recently and those issues related to active memberships.

“The Poudel faction is holding a meeting today to dwell on the ward convention recently held in Dadeldhura, the home district of Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba and the active membership disputes in 20 districts,” said central member Badri Pandey.

The Poudel faction has been alleging that the ward convention in Dadeldhura was held by using force with the help of police and administration. The ward convention which started on September 3 has been held only in 57 districts.

The Poudel camp had upped the ante in Dadeldhura saying that the ward convention was held with the help of police and administration.

The group, which has been expressing doubts about the fairness of the convention,  is preparing to mount pressure on President Deuba to resolve the issue immediately saying that the controversy and dispute in the convention could mire the original date of the general convention of the party.

The 14th General Convention of the party has been slated for November 25-29 in the Kathmandu Valley.
