KATHMANDU: Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota directed the Parliament Secretariat, on Friday, to remove some of the remarks made by CPN-Maoist Center lawmaker Matrika Yadav about CPN-UML Chairman and former Prime Minister KP Oli in the House of Representatives (HoR) during Thursday’s session.

Following the objections of the opposition UML lawmakers in the HoR meeting on Friday, the speaker directed to remove the words spoken by Yadav from the secretariat’s record.

Giving instructions, Speaker Sapkota said, “I would like rule to remove the words ‘mentally and physically unfit’ as it is contrary to clause E of Rule 1 of the Rules of the House of Representatives, 2016.”

In today’s meeting, UML Chief Whip Bishal Bhattarai had demanded that the ‘indecent’ and ‘non-parliamentary’ words spoken by lawmaker Yadav should be removed from the record. Bhattatari also expressed concern over the Speaker’s slackness to remove the words.

Soon after, another UML lawmaker tried to protest, the speaker did not give him time to speak. After this, all the UML parliamentarians stood up and protested.

After the protest, Speaker Sapkota directed to remove Yadav’s objectionable words from the record.
