KATHMANDU: Lawmakers have raised voices in the parliament for the immediate rescue and repatriation of Nepalis living in Afghanistan for foreign employment.
In a meeting of the House of Representatives on Thursday, lawmaker Khagaraj Adhikari, a former health minister and a member of the main opposition –CPN-UML, said that Nepali migrants who had gone to Afghanistan for foreign employment are dire straits due to the ongoing civil war.
After the US withdrew its troops, reports are now circulating in the international media that the insurgent Taliban are taking control of various provincial capitals in Afghanistan.
The Talibans have taken control of five regional capitals so far.
The United States and Britain have urged their citizens to leave Afghanistan immediately.
