Facilitation to be done for visa interviews, including DV

KATHMANDU: A meeting of the three Chief District Officers (CDOs) of Kathmandu Valley Sunday decided to facilitate the DV lottery winners and abroad study aspirants to go to embassies for visa interviews.

Bhaktapur CDO Prem Prasad Bhattarai said facilitation would be done for affected people to appear in interviews.

Diplomatic missions can now conduct necessary interviews by complying with the health standards issued by the government. Nepali winners of DV-2021 are worried after the US Embassy in Kathmandu did not issue visas to DV-2020 winners.

With three months left in 2021 to get visas, DV winners have requested various agencies and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to create a conducive environment for arranging visa interviews.

There is a provision that the winners have to get the visa by the end of next September and if they do not get it by that time, there will be automatic revocation.

In 2021, 3,801 Nepalis managed to win the DV lottery, but so far not a single person has been able to get a visa.
