KATHMANDU: The prohibitory order imposed in the Kathmandu Valley is likely to be extended from June 15, however, with slight changes to the modality.

The ongoing order expires on June 14.

Sources have said that preparations are being made to continue the prohibitory order in the Kathmandu, Lalitpur, and Bhaktapur districts of the Kathmandu Valley.

Chief District Officers (CDOs) of all the three districts of Kathmandu Valley are to hold a meeting on Sunday.

The CDOs’ meeting will decide to continue the prohibitory order by changing modality from June 15.

The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) has warned that removing restrictions would be fatal now as the infection rate is 29-30 percent.

According to Dhundi Prasad Niraula, Chief District Officer of Lalitpur, preparations are being made to continue the prohibitory order as the risk of coronavirus infection has not decreased significantly.

However, preparations are being made to ease restrictions on the agricultural sector and the banking as well as the financial sector.

Niraula said that discussions are underway to open up the agro-industries-related sector.

Currently, industries and shops related to the agricultural sector are allowed to operate only till 9 am.

Discussions are underway to allow groceries and stores to open in the morning and evening.

Meanwhile, private vehicles will be allowed to operate by imposing odd and even rule from June 15, but people will have to fully comply with health-related protocols.
