Maoist Center Standing Committee meeting called at 5 pm

KATHMANDU: CPN (Maoist Center) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has called a Standing Committee meeting of the party at 5 pm for Thursday.

The meeting is taking place after Prachanda held talks with Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba in Budhanilkantha in the afternoon. The meeting will take place at the party central office at Parisdanda in Koteshwor.

However, it is said that the NC and Maoist Center are lacking majority to claim to form a majority government, with the JSP’s Mahantha Thakur led faction remaining neutral and not extending support to them.

The Standing Committee meeting has been called after Prachanda returned from Budhanilkantha.

Meanwhile, the possibility to form government by NC and Maoist Center depends on the UML’s Nepal faction. The faction has yet to take a concrete decision on resigning en-masse or not. Meanwhile, talks between Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal concluded.

The UML this morning decided to scrap its decision to suspend four leaders of the Nepal faction
