US Indo-Pacific Command provides an additional $2.75m to Nepal

KATHMANDU: In what can be dubbed as humanitarian support by the United States to combat COVID-19 pandemic in Nepal, the Indo-Pacific Command has announced another $2.75M in funding that is earmarked for crucial oxygen generating plants, liquid oxygen storage tanks, and oxygen transportation cylinders.

Since April 2020, INDOPACOM has provided a total of nearly $5.8 million in Overseas Humanitarian, Disaster Assistance, and Civic Aid funding to Nepal.

This has enabled the Embassy’s Department of Defense team to purchase PPE, breathing devices (BiPAPs, CPAPs, oxygen therapy devices), isolation/disaster camp equipment and supplies, telemedicine equipment, COVID-19 testing supplies, handwashing stations, and medical equipment for numerous health clinics across Nepal.

With the latest support, this brings total USG assistance to date to $50.9 million with the help of USAID.
