KATHMANDU: Parbati Ghale scored twice as Biratnagar Metropolitan City came from behind to defeat Chaudandigadhi Municipality Udaypur 2-1 in the National Women’s League on Saturday.

Manita Tamang had given the lead to Chaudandigadhi in the seventh minute before Ghale leveled in the 15th minute. Ghale pounced on to give Biratnagar the lead three minutes before time after Chaudandigadhi’s goalkeeper Susmita Rai failed to keep hold of the free-kick by Asha Kumari.

Biratnagar coach Paras Chaudhary was delighted for the team’s fighting spirit in the win.

“We were unlucky to hit the crossbar couple of times but the girls kept fighting. We were able to equalize and finally score the winning goal a few minutes before time,” said Chaudhary.

Chaudandigadhi’s coach Dipak Thapa said the small mistake by goalkeeper Rai had a big impact on their match. “We had played for three points but she failed to hold the ball. That cost us our first point,” said Thapa.

Biratnagar is fifth on the table with 13 points. Chaudandigadhi is bottom of the table without a point from 10 matches.
