NCP Row: Oli faction staging ‘huge mass assembly’ in Butwal today

'200,000 are expected to participate'

KATHMANDU: The Oli-faction of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) is staging a ‘huge mass demonstration’ in a show of strength in Butwal in Rupandehi district on Saturday.

The mass demonstration has been organized by the NCP Lumbini Pradesh committee.

According to a central member of the Oli faction, Prime Minister and NCP Chairman KP Sharma Oli, Finance Minister and General Secretary Bishnu Paudel, Chief Minister of Lumbini Pradesh Shankar Pokharel, Energy Minister Top Bahadur Rayamajhi, and Minister Lekh Raj Bhatta among others will address the assembly.

Oli faction has claimed that over 200,000 people will participate in the assembly.  “Around 100,000 people will participate in the assembly from Rupandehi district and the rest 100,000 from outside districts of the province,” claimed Chief Minister Pokharel.

NCP Oli faction has expected a significant turnout of participants due to the influence of General Secretary Bishnu Paudel in Rupandehi.

Rallies will start from Hospital Line of Butwal and Chauraha Highway prior to converging into a mass assembly at Siddheshwar sports ground.

Prachanda-Nepal faction had also organized a huge mass demonstration in Butwal on January 28.

Both the factions have been staging demonstrations in various parts of the country to turn the tables in their favor after the ruling NCP was divided politically.
