Over 1.9 million doses of Moderna vaccine arriving today



KATHMANDU: As many as 1.9 million doses of Moderna vaccine are arriving in Kathmandu today.

According to the Department of Health Services under the Ministry of Health and Population, the Nepal government is receiving 1,965,600 doses of Moderna vaccine today under the COVAX facilities.

Badebabu Thapa, senior pharmacy officer of the management division of the Health Service Department, said that the vaccine will be delivered today.

A total of 36,051,600 doses of modern vaccine have been received in Nepal since last Friday and Thursday.

The government is preparing to vaccinate 1.8 million children between the ages of 12 and 18 from January 19.

The Ministry of Health has decided to give modern and Pfizer vaccines to the age group.

According to Sagar Dahal, head of the Child Health and Vaccination Branch of the Health Services Department, Family Welfare Division, the vaccination campaign is being conducted from schools in 57 districts of the country.

Chief Dahal informed that the criteria for setting up vaccination centers have been fixed for schools with more than 100 students in Himalayan districts and schools with more than 200 students in other districts.

According to him, Moderna vaccination has been conducted in districts other than Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, Lalitpur, Sindhuli, Morang, Sunsari, Saptari, Parsa, Jhapa, Dhanusha, Chitwan, Kavre, Kaski, Baglung, Rupandehi, Dang, Banke, Surkhet, Kailali and Dadeldhura.
