Dry landslide at Dudhkosi puts 12 houses at risk

OKHALDHUNGA: A dry landslide has been taking place at the bank of the Dudh Kosi River at Manebhanjyang rural municipality-3 of the district for around two weeks.

The landslide has started near Chune of the Dudhkosi Corridor Road.

Harka Bahadur Rai, a local of Unbu, said that the dry landslide has been occurring for the last 20 days. According to him, it started taking place after the torrential rain during Dashain time stopped.

The landslide is said to be around 250 meters long. It was intense one week back and has now somewhat subsided. The landslide debris that has directly fallen into the river has also blocked the water flow in the river.

Locals said that the dry landslide had originated from the spot where the construction of the Jayaramghat-Moli road under the Dudhkosi Corridor was started.

Around 12 houses at Ribdom village of Manebhanjyang rural municipality-6 are at imminent risk from this landslide.
