SUDURPASHCHIM: Amidst the risk of coronavirus infection, the problem of viral fever has been on the rise in the Sudur Paschmi province in recent days.

According to the health workers, the number of patients suffering from high fever, loss of appetite and cold has started increasing.

Mohan Pandey of Dhangadhi Sub-Metropolis said that the problem of viral fever, which has started appearing amid fears of corona infection, has further aggravated the problem.

Likewise, information officer of Seti Provincial Hospital, Dhangadhi, Dilip Kumar Shrestha, said that patients with fever and cold come for treatment as the weather is changing.

It is said that such patients come to the district health institutions including Kailali, Doti, Baitadi and Bajura for treatment. In the current change in the weather, health workers have advised one and all to pay attention to their personal and environmental hygiene and to adhere to health safety standards to avoid corona virus infection. Corona virus infection rates in the Sudur Paschim states have been declining since the beginning of July.

According to the health directorate, Dipayal, 184 out of 9,845 samples tested last week tested positive for the corona virus. During this period, 165 infected people have been discharged after treatment. In the last 24 hours, 20 people have been infected and 14 have been discharged. A total of 327,942 samples of corona virus have been tested in the province so far and 46,580 people have been infected.

A total of 45,930 infected people have returned home after treatment. The incidence and mortality rate of the disease was high in the Province until May. Health workers say that there is a risk of further increase in corona virus infection due to the negligence of the public in following the prescribed health safety standards. The risk of the disease remains high as the ban on coronavirus prevention has been lifted and people are not following the prescribed health care standards.

Although symptoms of the corona virus have been seen in recent months, many people are afraid to get tested for corona virus. Health Assistant Bhakta Bahadur Bista says that many people do not want their samples to be tested saying that the positive result of the test will cause mental stress. (RSS)
