NC leader Nepali appointed Gandaki CM

KATHMANDU: Krishna Chandra Nepali has been appointed the Chief Minister of Gandaki.

Gandaki Province Chief Sita Kumari Poudel appointed Nepali as the Chief Minister as per Article 168 (5) of the constitution.

Nepali had staked claim for the CM’s office on behalf of the opposition alliance with the signatures of 31 members of the provincial assembly (PA) Friday after the province chief invited to present the basis for the appointment to the post.

Earlier, UML leader Prithvi Subba Gurung also staked claim for the CM’s office at the eleventh hour, following which opposition alliance demonstrated outside the Province Chief’s office in support for Nepali Congress (NC) parliamentary party (PP) leader Nepali.
