Rato Machindranath Chariot pulled

KATHMANDU: The chariot of Rato Machindranath has been pulled on Wednesday.

The chariot of Rato Machindranath, also worshipped as the God of Rain and Harvest, was pulled at an auspicious time of 6:17 pm.

The idol of the Rato Machindranath was kept in the chariot performing all the rituals and pulled from Damakalchowk at Patan, Lalitpur, informed Suryaman Dangol, one among the chariot pullers.

Keeping in mind the growing risk of the second wave of Covid-19, the chariot procession organizing committee pulled the chariot symbolically. Not many people participated in the process unlike in the past.

Dangol shared, ‘‘We pulled the chariot built at Jogambar Pith at Damkalchowk at Pulchowk till few yards only in consideration of the risk of Covid-19.”

Rituals have it that the chariot will be pulled up to Ga:Bahal in four days from now but the procession will be marked symbolically given the risk of Covid-19.
