Some forces trying to rip up constitution: NC leader Khand

BUTWAL: Nepali Congress (NC) Chief Whip Bal Krishna Khand said some political forces were trying to tear the present constitution into pieces.

Speaking at the first general convention of National Dalit Journalists Association in Butwal Friday, leader Khand said Prime Minister KP Oli, who was trying to rip up the constitution, might one day become extinct himself. He added that the constitution had come under frequent attacks ever since KP Oli became the prime minister.

“Currently, two kinds of struggles are ongoing in the nation. One is for saving the statute and the other is to dismantle it,” Khand said. He added that the incumbent government was trying to shred the constitution and in this context, the NC along with other parties must stand together to protect the charter.

He said the statute could be revised to favor backward communities that were still left behind instead of dismantling it.
