KATHMANDU: The CPN-UML and the Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP) will sit for discussion on government formation at 4 pm at the Prime Minister’s official residence, in Baluwatar, on Friday.

Leaders of the parties indicated that today’s meeting could be the final meeting that would decide whether to support KP Oli-led government or not. The two parties’ taskforces are holding talks today.

Prime Minister’s Press Advisor Surya Thapa said yesterday’s meeting held among top leaders of the two parties had ended on a positive note.

Prime Minister KP Oli, Finance Minister Bishnu Poudel, Standing Committee member Subash Nembang, Shankar Pokharel, Ishwar Pokharel and Rajan Bhattari, among other leaders of the CPN-UML, had participated in meeting yesterday. Likewise, Central Council Chairman Mahantha Thakur, Rajendra Mahato, Ashok Rai and Laxman Lal Karna had represented the JSP yesterday.

JSP leaders have been saying that only after the government fulfills their demands they would sit for talks on lending support to government formation.

JSP demands include release of Resham Chaudhary, withdrawal of cases filed against cadres of the party during Madhes movement, making public the report prepared by former Justice Girishchandra Lal and amendment to the constitution.
