I will wage revolt once again in country: Chairman Prachanda

KATHMANDU: CPN (Maoist Center) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal alias Prachanda has said that he would wage a revolt once again in the country.

Addressing a gathering of medical professionals close to the party held at Peris Danda in Koteshwor on Thursday, Chairman Prachanda said the situation has called for one more uprising in the country.

“I was 42 years old when I started an insurgency in the country, now I have come of 67 years of age. Some of my comrades advise me to quit it, but I won’t do so,” said Dahal, adding, “Mao Tse-tung had waged a Cultural Revolution when he was 70 years old.  “I will go for a revolution once again in the days ahead. I fought a battle in the past and I won it.  We have to fight one more battle to bail the country out of the current imbroglio.”

He further stated that the revolution can be waged at home-grown power in consistent with the cultural,  geographical and demographic structures of the country.

Saying that various forces – both domestic and foreign – are raising their ugly heads to conspire against the political achievements attained through a long struggle, he called for a unity to fight it.

He stated that he will go to the people for two to four years in order to launch a nationwide political campaign, leaving the Kathmandu Valley.
