BUTWAL: A Standing Committee member of Nepal Communist Party Prachanda-Nepal faction Dev Gurung has remarked that the dissolved House of Representatives (HoR) can be run and if the court does not restore it, the people’s movement will bring it to function again.

Citing the instance of restoration of parliament dissolved by King Gyanendra in 2003, he reiterated that as the strength of the people’s movement restored the parliament in 2006, there will be the restoration of the HoR even if the Supreme Court fails to do so.

However, he expressed his belief that based on the constitutional provision, the court will restore the parliament.
He warned there might be a people’s revolution provided the dissolution is not declared void.

“The HoR cannot be dissolved by the decision of the Prime Minister and the President,” former Minister Gurung told the media, “All parties, citizens, society, and the media have stood against this move.”

He further added that the election announced by Prime Minister KP Oli is unconstitutional.
