Election is main priority of government: Tourism Minister Dhakal

KATHMANDU: Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Bhanubhakta Dhakal has said that the present government, under the leadership of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, was moving ahead with the main focus on the election.

Minister Dhakal said this in a program of discussions with representatives of Nepal Civil Servants Organization under the Ministry here today. He said the government was working with full commitment for holding the elections on April 30 and May 10.

“The announced election would be held on the dates fixed for this purpose. The main focus now is the election. The state is on election environment, and you also should cooperate to the state’s election campaign,” he said.

Dhakal shared that a faction of the country’s politics was afraid of going to the election and facing the voters as well as being tested in the elections.

He explained that the election is being organized for attaining political stability as efforts to achieve the same by taking on board the force that was moving ahead on a different track through the election were unsuccessful in achieving stability.

On a different note, Minister Dhakal claimed that his tenure as the Minister for Health and Population was successful although the situation was difficult and challenging.

He claimed that he carried out reformative works in the Ministry of Health and Population. Minister Dhakal argued that medicines and health equipment related to COVID-19 were brought through his initiation even when the situation was difficult to transport the goods as the country was into a lockdown.

He claimed the supply and management of health materials and equipment was done more efficiently than some developed countries.

“A kind of revolution was brought in the health sector by inaugurating hospitals in the rural municipalities of the country amidst a crisis situation,” he said.

The government had inaugurated 315 hospitals with five, 10 and 15 beds in the rural municipalities throughout the country on December 1. RSS
