Media association chiefs urge journos to stand united against HoR dissolution

KATHMANDU: Chiefs of media associations have urged journalists to stand united against the dissolution of the House of Representatives (HoR) to safeguard the freedom of the press and freedom of speech.

Speaking at an interaction on ‘Current Political Crisis and the Roles of Journalists’ organized at Sambad Dabali in the capital  on Monday, the heads of media associations stated that the journalists should stand united against Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli’s move to dissolve the HoR to protect the freedom of the press.

They have also suggested that the imminent general convention of the Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) should raise this issue as an agenda.

The coordinator of Press Organization Nepal Maheshwor Dahal has called on all the journalists to stand united against Prime Minister Oli’s move to dissolve the HoR saying that it is arbitrary and feudalistic and against the Constitution.

Similarly, General Secretary of Press Union Ajaya Babu Siwakoti said all the journalists should be vocal against the autocratic move of the Prime Minister.
