Security agencies directed to prepare for elections

KATHMANDU: The Home Ministry has directed all security agencies to start preparing for the upcoming general elections scheduled for April 30 and May 10.

Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa has directed all the three security agencies to prepare for the elections.

He said as the country is focused on elections, the security agencies need to prepare for it.

Finance Minister Bishnu Poudel, meanwhile, urged the security agencies to propose an election budget through the home ministry by analysis the expenses incurred during the past elections, and considering cost-effectiveness.

He expressed the commitment to not allow budget crunch for the elections.

The Ministry as also urged all political parties involved in democratic practice and other stakeholders to organize their activities peacefully, in the wake up to the elections.
