Deuba faction in the soup: Spokesperson Sharma not to back off from Gen Secy’s race



KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress Spokesperson Bishwa Prakash Sharma has decided to run for the post of General Secretary.

Despite the request from Prime Minister and party President Sher Bahadur Deuba to contest for Deputy General Secretary, Sharma has indicated that he will not back off from his decision to run for the General Secretary.

According to sources, party President Deuba faction has been witnessing the widening rift as Deuba has been under pressure to share key posts among the leaders of Krishna Prasad Sitaula faction.

The Sitaula group has forwarded leader Pradeep Poudel’s name for the post of General Secretary.

According to the agreement reached between NC President Deuba and leader Sitaula party, Deuba faction is making preparations to nominate Poudel, a leader close to Sitaula, for the post of General Secretary.

Along with Poudel and Spokesperson Sharma, leaders including Gagan Thapa, Bal Krishna Khand, Minendra Rijal and Gyanendra Bahadur Karki are preparing to contest the election for the post.
