NSU demands withdrawal of petroleum price hike

KATHMANDU: The Nepal Students Union, a sister organization of the ruling Nepali Congress, has demanded immediate withdrawal of the recent price hike in petroleum products.

Issuing a statement on Thursday, NSU President Rajiv Dhungana has demanded the withdrawal of the price hike, saying rise in the price of fuel twice in a span of 15 days had hit the people hard.

“The NSU regrets the decision to increase the price of petroleum products in a way that would increase the cost of transportation and thereby increase the price of consumer goods in the market,” reads the statement.

The NSU has demanded an investigation into and control of the irregularities and corruption within the Nepal Oil Corporation. The Union has stated that it will launch a strong agitation if the price hike is not revoked.
