KATHMANDU: The government has hiked the tax on two-wheelers through a replacement bill brought by the government on Friday.

Excise duty on bikes of 500 to 800 CC has been increased by 20 percent. With the increase in excise duty, the price of new two-wheelers with 125 to 155 CC engine capacity will go up.

These are considered to be medium priced and best-selling vehicles in the Nepali market.

Similarly, the price of 200 to 800 CC bikes will also go up. Excise duty on 800 CC is maintained at the old rate of 100 percent.
