Rapist sentenced to 12 years in jail

NUWAKOT: The Nuwakot District Court has sentenced a man found guilty of rape to 12 years in jail. KedarPoudel, 19, of Bidur Municipality-12 was found guilty of raping an adolescent girl.

A single bench of District Court Judge Umesh Prasad Luitel decided to send Poudel to jail, shared Registrar of the Court, Indra Kumar Khadka.

According to the court decision, the convict should also provide Rs 50,000 as compensation to the rape survivor. Police said that Poudel raped a 15-year-old adolescent girl by inviting her to a cave at Belkotgadhi municipality-5 on 12 May 2020.

A rape case was registered at the District Police Office against Poudel the next day. Locals had taken the rapist boy under control from the site and handed him over to the police for necessary action.

The District Court had remanded Poudel on June 7,  2020.
